The prolific winger has officially put all speculation surrounding his future to bed after inking a new two-year deal with the Reds. The 2024/25 campaign had been shrouded in uncertainty with the attacker in the final year of his previous contract, but that has now been laid to rest as Salah is poised to reach a decade at the club.
According to Capology, the 32-year-old now earns a staggering £400 000 per week (R10 million), making him the highest-paid African footballer in the league and the second highest overall. The only other African in the top 10 is his compatriot Omar Marmoush.
Like Salah, the Cairo native has enjoyed a prolific 2024/25 season so far, having scored 20 goals and provided 14 assists in 26 matches in all competitions for Eintracht Frankfurt. It was this form at Deutsche Bank Park that prompted Manchester City to pay €75 million (R1.6 billion) for his services—and in England, he has continued his fine form, netting six goals and one assist in 13 matches for the Citizens so far.
The Egypt international penned a four-year deal that sees him earn £295 000 per week (R7.4 million). Still, no one in the Premier League has a more lucrative contract than Marmoush’s teammate, Erling Haaland.
The Scandinavian sensation earns £125 000 (R3.1 million) more than the next closest player to him—and perhaps it’s deserved. Since arriving in England, he has scored at an otherworldly rate, regularly breaking long-standing records. The Leeds-born striker has 120 goals and 20 assists in 138 games for City, which is likely why they’ve handed him a £525 000 per week salary (R13.2 million) on a contract set to run for the next nine years.
