The former Catalan club skipper enjoyed watching Barcelona triumph against their rivals at the weekend, saying that the game will go down in the history books.
"Even though it wasn't 5-0, it could have been, or more, based on the number of chances we had," he said, according to Marca.
"Madrid also had two or three, but Barcelona had at least 20 clear-cut chances and it could have been a much more convincing win.
"I enjoyed it because Barcelona were vastly superior in every aspect of the game: in attack, in defence, in focus, in putting the opposition under pressure. It was a really incredible game for Barcelona.
"It was a historic game, a 4-0 at the Bernabeu and a world-class performance. I think that Barcelona served up a footballing masterclass.
"It was incredible to watch. I really enjoyed it from the hotel and I congratulate them on the win."
Xavi highlighted Andres Iniesta's goal as the pick of the lot, and also praised a few individuals.
"They were all great goals, but the build-up to Andres' was amazing. Aside from that, Busquets, Andres and Neymar were unplayable," he added.
"I think that the entire team, including Bravo, scored 10/10. The only downside was Mascherano limping off injured, but it was still an excellent overall performance."
