Chelsea star Cesc Fabregas has revealed he was close to joining Real Madrid on several occasions.
Cesc: Chelsea's Season Is F***ed
The Spaniard was a member of Barcelona's famed youth academy before he joined Arsenal in 2003. He returned to Catalonia in 2011 and won the La Liga title in the 2012/13 season.
Fabregas has now admitted that terms were discussed with Los Blancos, but when it came to making things official, nothing came of the talks.
"Well, there was contact with different presidents over the space of several years, but no deal was ever struck," he told Marca.
"We discussed terms, but nothing final was ever agreed. That decisive step was never taken."
The Stamford Bridge midfielder also shared his view on El Clasico, the next instalment of which takes place this coming weekend.
"These games are incredible. We'd be really up for them, we saw them as the best matches we could play," he added.
"It was amazing. I loved playing at the Bernabeu. I've never lost there. I liked it and enjoyed it. The atmosphere is electric."
