A tearful Arturo Vidal escaped jail time after being arrested for drink-driving by police on Tuesday night.
"Messi's A Master Of The Ball"
The 28-year-old, who was on his way back from a casino with his wife on his day off, was involved in a two-car accident and arrested on suspicion of drunk driving.
The Chilean recorded 1.2g of alcohol per litre of blood when tested by police, and in Chile such a level of blood alcohol is deemed a "state of drunkenness" rather than just "under the influence".
The judge did not hand Vidal jail time, which would usually be the case, but he did get his driver's license revoked by the court.
Also to avoid jail sentence, Vidal must report monthly to the Chilean consulate in Milan under the terms of his release while investigations go on for 120 days.
Vidal, who was accompanied by his agent Fernando Felicevich at the verdict, held a press conference shortly after the judgement.
The Chilean asked his supporters for forgiveness after the incident and said he felt embarrassed at the whole situation.
"I had two drinks and had an accident, as everyone knows, and put the life of my wife and other people at risk. And for that I'm really sorry," Vidal told reporters, as quoted by the Daily Mail.
"I'm really embarrassed and all I can do is ask for forgiveness and show on the field that this opportunity I've been given is worth something."

Vidal is currently the top scorer in this year's Copa America with three goals and two assists.
