FC Barcelona star Luis Suarez jumped to the defence of his national teammates, after Uruguay got dumped out of the Copa America in a game filled with nasty scenes on Wednesday.
Suarez, who was suspended for the Copa America, hit out at supporters who labelled Uruguay as thugs of the football world, after seing them receive two red cards against Chile.
The striker himself was forced to miss the South American showpiece due to his own discipline issues and jumped onto Twitter to defend his teammates from their critics, as he highlighted their past achievements.
"Hello everyone. First of all thank you to all my team-mates who gave everything in the Copa, giving it their all for the beautiful shirt," Suarez wrote.
"I'm speechless lads. Thank you and Uruguayan pride!!!
"To those who say Uruguay play dirty, hit, argue etc and remember that Uruguay has 15 Copa America (titles). So to those who complain, look at your own country, with no titles... Let's go Uruguay, let's go!"
