English Capital One Cup
Final
Full Time: Chelsea 2-0 Tottenham Hotspur
Date: 01 March 2015
Venue: Wembley Stadium
Goals from captain John Terry and Diego Costa saw Chelsea crowned English Capital One Cup champions after beating Tottenham Hotspur 2-0 at Wembley Stadium on Sunday.
It was a cagey opening half with most of the play concentrated in the middle of the park and both defences looking well-organised.
One of the only real openings in the first stanza came in the tenth minute when a 24-yard free-kick from Christian Eriksen struck the Chelsea crossbar.
The Blues did not offer much in attack and saw numerous shots blocked by the Spurs defence on the edge of the box.
As they half progressed Tottenham began taking the ascendancy and came close to scoring in the 36th minute when some swift play on the edge of the Chelsea box saw Eriksen in space 16-yards out, but his shot was superbly saved by the keeper.
In the dying seconds of the half Chelsea took the lead after a right-sided free-kick resulted in a goalmouth scramble inside the box and John Terry poked the ball home from eight-yards out, 1-0.
The second half saw Spurs commanding the game for the most part, but again Chelsea found the back of the net in the 56th minute. Diego Costa drove into the box and fired a shot from an acute angle 12-yards out onto the shins of Kyle Walker and into the back of the net, 2-0.
Chelsea almost found their third goal ten minutes later when Eden Hazard dribbled his way into the box, but saw his 16-yard shot skim the wrong side of the crossbar.
In the 76th minute Harry Kane nearly pulled a goal back for Spurs when he met a corner-kick, but his header went agonisingly wide.
Spurs threw numbers forward in the closing stages of the game, but the Chelsea defence stood firm and the Blues were crowned English Capital One Cup champions.
