Capital One Cup, Round Three Wrap, 22 September 2015

It was a busy night in England with 21 goals scored in eight Capital One Cup, Round three matches as Aston Villa, Stoke City, Hull City, Middlesbrough, Manchester City, Everton, Leicester and Bournemouth moved onto the next stage of the competition.

Middlesbrough were one of the most impressive sides after a brace from Ghanaian Albert Adomah saw them to a comfortable 3-0 win over Wolves at the Riverside Stadium.

Manchester City were also deadly in front of goal with four goals in their opening half to beat Sunderland 4-1 at the Stadium of Light.

Everton move into the next round of the cup competition after second half goals from Ross Barkley and Gerard Deulofeu saw them come from behind to beat Reading 2-1 at the Madejski Stadium.

A single goal from Benin international Rudy Gestede saw Aston Villa beat Birmingham 1-0 at Villa Park.

Stoke also won their Capital Cup One match by a single goal thanks to a Peter Crouch strike which saw them down Fulham 1-0 at Craven Cottage.

Hull City made the most of home ground advantage when a goal from David Meyler gave them a 1-0 win over Swansea at KC Stadium.

Two matches went into extra time after Leicester City versus West Ham United and Preston Versus Bournemouth ended 1-1 after 90 minutes.

A goal in the 116th minute of the match from Andy King handed Leicester a 2-1 win over West Ham at the King Power Stadium.

The other match between Preston and Bournemouth went to penalties after 120 minutes of football ended 2-2. In the end Bournemouth ran out 3-2 winners in the penalty shoot-out.
