Capital One Cup Report: Tottenham 1-2 Arsenal 23 September 2015

Capital One Cup Result: Tottenham 1-2 Arsenal Date: 23 September 2015 Venue: White Hart Lane Arsenal edged out their North London rivals Tottenham 2-1 in their Capital One Cup encounter on Wednesday night. The Gunners took the lead in the 26th minute when Mathieu Flamini fired the ball into the roof of the Spurs net after Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain's initial strike from 20 yards was parried towards the Frenchman. A few minutes later the hosts came close to levelling matters. Harry Kane opened up some space for Spurs before passing to Rose who cut inside only to send his shot just wide of the target. Tottenham had another good chance to equalise in first-half stoppage time. A wasteful pass from Aaron Ramsey on the edge of the Spurs area allowed the hosts to counter attack, resulting in Kane shooting narrowly wide. The equaliser finally arrived via an own goal in the 56th minute when a cross from Chadli was sent into the back of the Arsenal net by Calum Chambers. However, it was Arsene Wenger's charges who had the final say as Flamini produced another strike. Alexis Sanchez attempted a pass that deflected and flew high into the air. Flamini kept his eyes on it all the way down to control a stunner of a volley into the corner of Vorm's goal.
