Manchester City secured an emphatic 5-1 win over Crystal Palace to secure their spot in the quarterfinals of the Capital One Cup.
Kevin De Bruyne should have gifted City the lead inside the first five minutes when he was through on goal but the Belgian's effort sailed inches wide of the upright.
Palace were presented with a chance of their own in the 13th minute but Willy Caballero was on hand to deny Yannick Bolasi from six-yards out.
City eventually broke the deadlock in the 22nd minute as Wilfried Bony met Aleksander Kolarov's corner to head home into the far corner.
Manuel Pellegrini's men doubled their advantage just before the halftime break, as Kelechi Iheanacho teed up De Bruyne for the easiest of tap-ins.
The home side continued to search for more goals as the second half got underway but Bony lacked the composure to slot home from 12-yards out.
Wayne Hennesey had to be at his best in the 58th minute, as the Palace goalkeeper pulled off a superb save to deny De Bruyne from close range.
However, City managed to grab their third goal a minute later as De Bruyne turned provider to tee up Iheanacho, who slotted home into the bottom corner.
The visitors could have reduced the deficit in the 63rd minute when Wilfried Zaha teed up Patrick Bamford in the six-yard area, however Eliaquim Mangala popped up with a superb block.
Pellegrini's charges then managed to grab a fourth goal on the night, after they were awarded a penalty, which Yaya Toure stepped up to convert.
Manuel Garcia rounded off the win for the Citizens in stoppage time, after Damien Delaney had bagged a consolation for the visitors in the 89th minute.
