The Bavarians thrashed Holstein Kiel 6-1, with Kane scoring three times while Jamal Musiala bagged the other goal.
In doing so, Kane brought up is 50th goal in the Bundesliga in 35 appearances, breaking Haaland's record of 50 goals in 45 games.
The win took Vincent Kompany's charges to the top of the table as the only team with three wins from three matches this season.
Kompany, however, is remaining grounded after three straight wins in the Bundesliga.
"We're still not looking at the table. We have to keep winning. Our mentality from the start was very good," the coach said, as per the club's website.
"We knew we had a very good squad. It was ideal for us that we were leading 4-0 at half-time so we were able to make changes early.
"I hope that we can keep going for a while without injuries to players. Today was a good result and a good performance. Let's push on!"
