Winning the Ballon d'Or is nearly impossible when you are up against Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, according to Atletico Madrid star Antoine Griezmann.
African Star: I've Found A Home In The EPL
The French striker, who is expected to be shortlisted alongside five-time winner Messi and three-time holder Ronaldo, had a brilliant 2015/16 season for club and country, despite ultimately losing in two major finals.
However, Griezmann feels that claiming the trophy ahead of either the Argentine or the Portuguese is next to impossible because of their consistently top performances.
"The Ballon d'Or is one of my objectives, but it will be complicated so long as Ronaldo and Messi are around," Griezmann told Telefoot.
"Cristiano Ronaldo will be a legend of the game in 10 years' time or so. It is up to me to keep working hard to reach that level. I work hard every day to improve.
"Ronaldo has enjoyed a great season. He won the Champions League and Euro 2016. It would be deserved if he wins the Ballon d'Or.
"But there is always Messi to take into account. He is present every year when it comes to the Ballon d'Or."
Pique: We Won't Win The League Playing Like This
The 25-year-old has made 17 appearances in all competitions for Atletico so far this season, scoring nine goals and assisting a further six strikes.
