FIFA announced the official 2016 World Team of the Year on Monday. Professional players from 69 nations selected their World XI – here is the World XI selected by players in South Africa.

The official team included five Real Madrid stars, four from FC Barcelona, as well as Bayern Munich's Manuel Neuer and former Barca right back Dani Alves, who now plies his trade for Juventus.
When comparing the selection of the likes of Itumeleng Khune, Keagan Dolly and company, professionals in South Africa selected three different stars to the official team.
Instead of Catalan defender Gerard Pique, Paris Saint-German's Thiago Silva made the cut, while Paul Pogba was chosen over Toni Kroos. Meanwhile, Neymar replaced Luis Suarez up front.

Unsurprisingly, Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi made the South African World XI as they are the only two players who made it in each and every World Team of the Year from all 69 partaking countries.
