The Portuguese was crowned The Best FIFA Men's Player of 2016, the award that was previously known as FIFA World Footballer of the Year.
After already picking up France Football's 2016 Ballon d'Or title, which is awarded to the best European Footballer (eligible for all players plying their trade in Europe), the FIFA award capped a great year for the 31-year-old.
He was the favourite to lift the prestigious individual accolade, and has done so by quite some margin. National team coaches and captains from FIFA's member associations as well as one media representative per association and fans from all over the world (each voting panel accounting for 25%) chose their three favourites, with the first choice getting five points, second place three points and third place one point.
Overall, Ronaldo received 34.54% of the votes, more than the other two final nominees, Messi (26.43%) and Griezmann (7.53%), combined.
Neymar (6.23%) just missed out on the podium, while Luis Suarez received 5.11% of the votes and Ronaldo's teammate Gareth Bale follows with 4.62%.
Riyad Mahrez, the only African among the 23 nominees, finished in seventh place with 2.2% of the votes.
He is followed by Gianluigi Buffon (1.85%) and Andres Iniesta (1.69%), with Toni Kroos (1.25%) completing the top 10.
Alexis Sanchez (1.19%) just missed out on the top 10, and he sits ahead of Robert Lewandowski (0.93%), who is in 12th position.
Luka Modric (0.89%), Mesut Ozil (0.86%) and Jamie Vardy (0.81%) make up the rest of the top 15, while Manuel Neuer, Sergio Ramos, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Paul Pogba, Kevin De Bruyne, N'Golo Kante, Sergio Aguero and Dimitri Payet (in that order) all received less than 0.8% of the votes.
