FIFA and FIFPro World Players' Union have revealed the 15 midfielders who have been shortlisted for the official 2016 World XI, snubbing the likes of Yaya Toure, Riyad Mahrez and James Rodriguez.

Three of the 15 nominated midfielders will appear in the final 2016 FIFA FIFPro XI, which will line up in a 4-3-3 formation.
More than 25 000 professional players selected their personal World XI and FIFA/FIFPro announced all nominees on Thursday.
Here are the 15 nominated midfielders:
FC Barcelona: Sergio Busquets, Andres Iniesta, Ivan Rakitic
Bayern Munich: Xabi Alonso, Arturo Vidal
Real Madrid: Toni Kroos, Luka Modric
Manchester City: David Silva, Kevin De Bruyne
Chelsea: Eden Hazard
Leicester/Chelsea: N'Golo Kante
Manchester United/Juventus: Paul Pogba
Paris Saint-Germain: Marco Verratti
Arsenal: Mesut Ozil
West Ham: Dimitri Payet

Iniesta, Pogba and Modric were the midfielders selected for the 2015 FIFA/FIFPro World XI, and all three have been nominated once again.
