Real Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo believes he would have won more Ballon d'Or trophies than FC Barcelona Lionel Messi if they played for the same team.
The Argentine has won the prestigious individual award five times in his career, while the Portugal captain claimed his fourth on Monday night.
In an interview with France Football, Ronaldo was asked if he thought he would have won more Ballons d'Or if he and Messi played for the same club.
"It's a difficult question. I don't know," Ronaldo answered.
"It would be interesting to see both of us in the same team. I think great players should play together. So if we were in the same team, I think I would have more than him, but he wouldn't be far off.
"Everyone knows Messi is a great player. He's won five Ballons d'Or."
The Portuguese forward also said he will be trying to draw level with his arch-rival in 2017.
"I'm going to try," Ronaldo added.
"I'll be in the fight, as always, but my objective now is to win the Club World Cup, an important trophy.
"After that, to win La Liga. It's a title that Real wants to win. And if possible, the Champions League again and the Copa del Rey. I always want to win everything."
'Ronaldo Messi Are Two Monsters'
The 31-year-old has made 17 appearances in all competitions for Los Blancos so far this season, scoring 12 goals and assisting six further strikes.
