With the race to become the 2017 Ballon d'Or winner having begun a few months ago, here is Bleacher Report's power ranking for the prestigious award.

Leading the ranking is Real Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo. The 32-year-old had an incredible first half of the year, lifting the UEFA Champions League trophy and the La Liga title. The Portuguese made 46 appearances for Los Blancos last season, scoring 42 goals and assisting 12 further strikes.
In second place is FC Barcelona forward Lionel Messi, which is probably no surprise to many out there. It has not been the Argentine's year, even though he once again scored a lot of goals. Messi managed to make 52 appearances for the Blaugrana last season, scoring 54 goals and assisting 19 further strikes.
Somewhat surprisingly, in third place is Monaco and France starlet Kylian Mbappe. The 18-year-old had a fantastic breakthrough season, during which he helped his club lift the Ligue 1 trophy by scoring 26 goals in 44 appearances.
