Of all the CAF representatives in the FIFA Club World Cup, the Red Castle perhaps have the toughest group. The Moroccan outfit have been drawn against record Italian champions Juventus, English juggernauts Manchester City, and Emirati giants Al Ain.
In hopes of being competitive in the star-studded mini-league, the North African side will be looking to secure major recruitments as soon as the upcoming transfer window opens.
To give his side the best possible chance of progressing, club president Hicham Ait-Menna is reported to have said that he wants to sign members of the Moroccan national team that reached the semi-finals of the 2022 FIFA World Cup.
One of the players from that historic side who has been linked with the Casablanca-based side is Hakim Ziyech. This past off-season, the playmaker completed a permanent move from Stamford Bridge to Turkish giants Galatasaray, but it doesn't seem to have worked out for the 31-year-old.
Head coach of the Super Lig table-toppers Okan Buruk has publicly stated that Ziyech will leave the club during the January transfer window, and Wydad has been touted as a potential destination.
