In three weeks' time, the January transfer window will open once again.
Some teams will be buying with the hope that their acquisitions can have an immediate impact on their fortunes, while most, if they manage to complete deals, will bring in players with a long-term view.
It seems, however, that the Red Castle will focus more on outgoings during the looming mid-season window.
According to Le Site Info Sports, the club's president, Hicham Ait Menna, has requested Mokwena draw up a list of first-team players he deems surplus to requirements so they can attempt to sell them in the new year.
The same report claims the Moroccan executive wants to create space for new arrivals, making player departures necessary.
It appears Ait Menna has an eye on the FIFA Club World Cup, in which Wydad will compete later this year. With aspirations of being competitive at the revamped global tournament, he is eager to recruit the best players as soon as possible.

It is alleged that most of the players he aims to sign for the three-time African champions are from Morocco's historic 2022 FIFA World Cup squad. However, it remains to be seen how many of them will be willing to make the switch to Casablanca.
