Yanga Chief Addresses 'Violence' Concerns Ahead Of Downs Clash

Young Africans' club president has addressed concerns relating to potential hostility that Mamelodi Sundowns may encounter during their trip to Tanzania in the first leg of their CAF Champions League quarter-final.

On Saturday, Yanga will host the reigning DStv Premiership champions in a titanic continental tussle at the Benjamin Mkapa National Stadium.

While the Tshwane-based side may be eager to face their Dar es Salaam counterparts on Saturday, there is reportedly some angst regarding the treatment they could receive upon their arrival.

During the group stage of the competition, another southern African team travelled to the Tanzanian capital, when Botswana's Jwaneng Galaxy faced Simba SC.

Morena Ramoreboli's charges would be thumped 6-0, but it is believed the heavy defeat was a consequence of some reported heinous treatment from the Reds of Msimbazi.

However, Hersi Said, president of the Tanzanian Mainland Premier League champions, has insisted that Masandawana will not be victims of any ill-treatment this coming weekend.

"We're aware of the ties that exist between these two countries – South Africa and Tanzania – and we don't take that lightly. We have business, strong family ties, and friends in South Africa," Said told FARPost.

"This is not a war. It's a football game. We're excited to host Sundowns and anticipate a thrilling match on the pitch. Young Africans is committed to upholding the highest standards of sportsmanship and fair play.

"Our fans are renowned for their enthusiastic support, and we are confident they will create a vibrant and respectful atmosphere for both teams.

"We understand the importance of this competition for both Sundowns and Young Africans. They must know they're dealing with the right people with the right mindset.
