Benitez is perhaps one of the most successful managers of the 21st century. The Madrid native has made a career out of defying the odds and winning titles when considered underdogs, such as leading Valencia to two LaLiga triumphs in the early 2000s, before overturning a 3-0 half-time deficit in the 2004/05 Champions League final to win Europe’s premier club prize with the Reds.
He has coached the likes of Inter Milan, Real Madrid, Chelsea, Newcastle United and Napoli during his trophy-laden career, but he is now a free agent.
It has been alleged that both of Egypt’s biggest clubs, Zamalek and Ahly, are looking for possible replacements for their current managers come the end of the season. With Benitez on the market, the 64-year-old could make a surprise move to coach one of these clubs – and when quizzed on this possibility, he set the record straight.
"I received some offers from the UAE and Saudi Arabia, and I might return to coach in China. I remember Zamalek, it's an important team, and so is Al Ahly,” the Spaniard told Kora Plus.

“No, I haven't received any offers from Zamalek or Al Ahly, but I always hear about the two clubs and the rivalry between them. My foreign friends always tell me about Al Ahly and Zamalek and the rivalry between them."
