A former Ghana International has praised the South African teams for their impressive showing in this season's continental competitions.

Boateng spent two seasons with Supersport United between 2017 and 2019, winning the MTN8. He said Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates have performed admirably in Africa this season.
Speaking to Pan-Africa Football, Boateng said the investment South Africa has put into football has reaped the rewards and has been instrumental in the rise in performances seen on the continent.
The ex-Black Stars defender said South Africa's facilities are among the best in Africa and he enjoyed his time spent with Matsatsantsa.
"Trust me, I have been around Africa playing football but when I got to South Africa, I realised they have the best facilities in terms of football and I really enjoyed my time there," Boateng said.
The former TP Mazembe player also said Sundowns and Pirates' performances should come as no surprise.
"I am not surprised their football has risen to the level we are seeing now in Africa," the Ghanaian said.

Sundowns and Pirates will face Egyptian sides Al Ahly and Pyramids FC in the CAF Champions League respectively, while Cape Town side Stellenbosch FC will also play in the semi-finals of the CAF Confederations Cup against Tanzanian side Simba SC.
