The 36-year-old has not been prolific for Marcel Koller's charges, having scored just four goals in 22 appearances across all competitions.
Former Al Ahly star turned pundit Ahmed Shobeir claims the club will not be extending the French striker's stay.
"Al Ahly have decided not to extend Modeste's contract," Shobeir told local radio broadcast SportFM.
"There is a stipulation that if he plays a certain number of games, his deal would be renewed automatically but they don't want that because they would have to pay him a huge amount of money which could exceed $1m.
"The next few days will reveal the extent of the relationship that exists between the player and the club," he added.
