The Blue Wave earned a massive away victory in their opening continental clash against last year's quarter-finalists, as goals from Adama Coulibaly and Yasir Mozamil condemned Ramovic to a 2-0 defeat on his debut.

While last season they made it to the last eight, the campaign prior saw them defeated by the Sudanese giants in the second preliminary round, as it was Al Hilal who qualified for the 2022/23 group stages courtesy of a 2-1 aggregate win.

Now the Ibenge-led side have thwarted Yanga once again, and their president, Hesham Hassan Al Subat, is elated by the club's latest victory in Dar es Salaam.

"A strong and promising start for Al-Hilal in the group stage of the African Champions League, with a valuable and precious victory over Al-Shabab of Tanzania," the Sudanese executive said on Facebook, as per Kooora.

"Our warmest congratulations to the patient and steadfast Sudanese people, who deserved this joy that came at the right time, and special congratulations to the Al-Hilal fans in all parts of the country and abroad."

"Thanks to the technical staff for assuming the responsibility, led by Captain Florent Ibenge and the club's loyal son, Captain Khaled Bakhit. Thanks also go to the brothers of Mohamed Abdel Rahman for this generous giving, which confirmed their high standing and worthiness.

"The joy of this precious victory coincided with the launch of the new uniform, which combined antiquity, civilisation, and modernity, to form this beautiful painting. Here, I would like to extend my thanks to everyone who contributed to this wonderful work with effort and money."
