A few months into the 2024/25 season, and already there will be a second edition of the Cairo Derby.
While the Red Devils and the White Knights first collided in the CAF Super Cup final in Saudi Arabia last month, the two north African giants will renew their fearsome rivalry in the Gulf again as they are poised to meet in the United Arab Emirates to contest the final of the Egyptian Super Cup.
In the CAF Super Cup decider, it was Jose Gomes' charges who came out triumphant courtesy of a penalty shootout victory, but it now seems that Ahly's Marcel Koller is determined to prevent a defeat from happening again, and has devised a plan to this effect.
According to El Watan Sports, integral to this plan will be South African star Percy Tau.
The Egyptian publication reports that the Swiss tactician held a special meeting with the reigning CAF Interclub Men's Player of the Year, alongside his strike partner Wessam Abou Ali, to give them specific instructions to carry out during the encounter to give them the best possible chance of victory.
The same report suggests that Koller has informed the duo to put constant pressure on Zamalek centre-backs Hamza Mathlouthi and Hossam Abdelmaguid in order to force them into making mistakes.
The former Austrian national team boss is understood to have instructed Tau and Abou Ali to continuously make runs in behind in order to expose the slowness of the aforementioned pair.

Koller will likely be fancying his chances in the Super Cup as the Club of the Century has won six of the eight finals the two teams have contested in the competition.
