With Cassius Mailula reportedly generating interest from French Ligue 1 sides, here are six other stars of the CAF Champions League who are ready for Europe right now.
Ex-Al Ahly Player Makes Two Big Sundowns Claims
The South African has been a phenomenon for Masandawana this season, not only domestically but on the continent as well. Mailula has shown he is capable of scoring against the best in Africa with three goals and an assist to his name in the CAF CL group stage already, making him the competition's top goalscorer after the qualifying rounds.
The diminutive forward compensates for his height with his knack of being in the right place at the right time in the box, with his seven DStv Premiership goals in 11 matches a testament to his clinical nature. It is no wonder clubs from France's top division are interested in his services.
Here are seven African players currently plying their trade in the CAF Champions League who are good enough for Europe's top leagues:
Another player who has also proved his quality in this latest edition of Africa's premier club competition is Esperance's Mohamed Ali Ben Romdhane. The lanky attacking midfielder uses his energy to make bursting runs into opposition halves, which often result in goals like the one he scored against Egyptian giants Zamalek this past weekend.
Like Mailula, Ben Romdhane has been linked with Ligue 1 sides such as Lille, Olympique Lyon, Angers and Montpellier, and with his current contract set to expire at the end of the season, it appears likely the Tunisia international will move to France in the off-season.
A team that is currently flying in the Champions League is Raja Casablanca, and attacker Yousri Bouzok is a big reason for that. The Algerian, like his compatriot Riyad Mahrez, is not a traditional winger who hugs the touchline but instead likes to wreak havoc on defenders by using his dribbling ability to drift inside and get shots on goal.
Ex-African Captain Claims His Ballon D'Or Votes Were Once Changed
The player arrived at the Botola Pro outfit from Algerian side Paradou AC at the beginning of the campaign, and has quickly established himself as one of the best players on the continent.
Other African stars playing in the CAF CL who have been deemed ready for Europe by many include Aliou Dieng of Al Ahly, Petro de Luanda's Kinito, Zamalek star Ahmed Fatouh and Teboho Mokoena of Sundowns
