On Thursday, CAF had confirmed the draw procedure with all 24 teams ranked according to their latest positions in the FIFA rankings.
On Friday then, the draw took place in Cairo, with hosts Egypt facing Zimbabwe, Uganda and DR Congo in a tricky group, while Bafana were drawn in what some would call the Group of Death alongside Herve Renard's Morocco, two-time winners Ivory Coast and Namibia.
It's the first tournament to be played with 24 participants, which means the top two from each group as well as the four best third-placed teams will qualify for the round of 16.
Here are all six groups in full:
Group A: Egypt, DR Congo, Uganda, Zimbabwe
Group B: Nigeria, Guinea, Madagascar, Burundi
Group C: Senegal, Algeria, Kenya, Tanzania
Group D: Morocco, Ivory Coast, South Africa, Namibia
Group E: Tunisia, Mali, Mauritania, Angola
Group F: Cameroon, Ghana, Benin, Guinea-Bissau
