The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has announced a ban for the Ghanaian forward who was involved in a bust-up with a Gabon international at the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations on Friday.
Turkey-based striker Benjamin Tetteh has received a three-match suspension after he was found to have "assaulted" a Gabonese player following their 1-1 Group C draw this past Friday.
It is said that the 24-year-old punched an opponent after the full-time whistle, leading to CAF's decision to suspend the Yeni Malatyaspor player, as per a statement released on Sunday.
"The CAF Disciplinary Board held a meeting this morning to deliberate on a number of incidents that occurred at the TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations Cameroon 2021," it read.
"Below are their decisions:
"TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations match: Gabon vs Ghana. On 13 January 2022, Gabon played Ghana at Ahmadou Ahidjo Stadium in Yaounde. Cameroon. The Disciplinary Board has also issued a stern warning to both teams for their unsportsmanship behaviour after referees' full-time whistle.
"The match officials indicated in their report that at the final whistle, Ghana player Benjamin Tetteh allegedly assaulted a Gabonese player.
"CAF Disciplinary Board decided to suspend Ghana player Benjamin Tetteh for one additional game match in addition to his automatic suspension of two matches. Consequently, the player has been suspended for three matches."
