Musona Eliminates Namibia, 2 More Teams Qualify

Musona Eliminates Namibia, 2 More Teams Qualify

Zimbabwe 3-1 Namibia

Namibia's hopes of qualifying for the Africa Cup of Nations were officially ended with two games to spare in Group J after a 3-1 defeat to Zimbabwe at Orlando Stadium.

The first stanza did not produce goals but Walter Musona eventually broke the deadlock for Zimbabwe early in the second stanza, made it 2-0 and completed his brace on the hour-mark.

Prince Dube sealed the deal for the Warriors in the last minute, just before Godwin Eiseb got a consolation goal for the Brave Warriors.

Zimbabwe maintained their second spot in the group while Collin Benjamin's charges suffered their fourth consecutive loss and can no longer qualify with two games remaining.

Kenya 0-1 Cameroon

Cameroon qualified for the tournament with two games to spare after a narrow 1-0 win over Kenya at Nelson Mandela National Stadium.

After a goalless first stanza, Boris Enow broke the deadlock for the Indomitable Lions just after the hour-mark and that was enough to hand them back-to-back wins.

Marc Brys's charges have a two point lead at the top of the group while Kenya are six points behind Cameroon in third place.

Liberia 1-2 Equatorial Guinea

Liberia are out of the running after a 2-1 loss to Equatorial Guinea in Group E at Samuel Kanyon Doe Sports Complex.

Luis Asue opened the scoring for Equatorial Guinea with 20 minutes on the clock and William Gibson equalised for Liberia.

However, Dorian Hanza snatched the winner for The National Thunder deep in stoppage time.

Equatorial Guinea got closer to qualifying while the Lone Stars were eliminated at the bottom of the group.

Togo 0-1 Algeria

Algeria booked their spot in the finals with two games remaining after edging Togo 1-0 at Stade de Kegue.

Ramy Bensebaini opened the scoring for the Desert Foxes after 18 minutes and that proved to be enough, as they kept their 100 percent winning record and qualified at the top of the section.

Qualification for Togo is no longer in their hands, as they trail second-placed Equatorial Guinea by five points, with two games to go.

Gambia 1-0 Madagascar

Gambia kept their hopes of qualifying alive with their first win in Group A after edging Madagascar 1-0 Ben M'Hamed El Abdi Stadium.

The hosts should have been ahead shortly before the half-hour mark but Musa Barrow missed a penalty.

However, Barrow made amends for it just after the hour-mark after he broke the deadlock for Gambia, which was ultimately the winning goal.
