The story
Ex-Amakhosi star Dumisani Zuma, who is currently unattached, spoke candidly about taking accountability for the challenges he's faced in his professional football career.
The 29-year-old was signed by the Soweto giants in 2017 and was let go by the club in June 2022 due to problems stemming from alcohol abuse and misconduct.
Having last played for the now defunct Moroka Swallows last season, Zuma admitted in his conversation with Andile Ncube on Metro FM that alcohol and negative influences contributed to his career pitfalls and is ready to take responsibility for those mistakes.
When asked what he's personally responsible for when it comes to his career being in a crossroads, Zuma answered, "I would say, I think the drinking part because I think we were young and too happy after games.
"I think I was at the phase where everything is going smoothly. But, taking this break helped me a lot to understand that if I want to go back to playing again, there's one or two things that need to be sorted because I'm not getting any younger," admitted Zuma.
The ex-AmaZulu man also highlighted that going out as much as he did and having too many friends contributed to his issues off the pitch.

Ironically, in December last year, Zuma posted a campaign he did with South African sparkling wine company, Pongracz.
