The story
Orlando Pirates winger Relebohile Mofokeng was named the Gauteng Sport Awards Personality of the Year by the Gauteng Department of Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation in November 2024 and as a result of that, he's received a brand new car.
Mofokeng claimed the prestigious title by beating out notable South African athletes such as Olympic Silver medalist, Akani Simbine, UFC champion Dricus Du Plessis, two-time Olympic gold medalist Tatjana Schoenmaker, and his Bafana Bafana captain Ronwen Williams.
As part of his recognition, the Gauteng Department is now rewarding Mofokeng with a white VW Polo Vivo (valued between R271 900 to R363 100).
The vehicle was presented to him by MEC Matome Chiloane as well as, Jomo Sport's Philani Xaba and Sipho Mngomezulu on Tuesday at Bidwest McCarthy VW Westgate in Roodepoort, marking the culmination of Mofokeng's success at the 2024 awards.
