The story
Kaizer Chiefs fans wasted no time in applauding a resurgent George Matlou after his standout showing in Amakhosi's 4-0 win over Free Agents FC in the Nedbank Cup round of 32.
Despite not getting onto the scoresheet in Chiefs' rout over the ABC Motsepe Foundation side, Matlou was a livewire in midfield for the Glamour Boys and provided the assist for Ranga Chivaviro's goal in the 83rd minute.
The 26-year-old, who has made four appearances in all competitions since his return under coach Nasreddine Nabi, marked his first start in last week's 1-0 win over Sekhukhune United in Durban and was substituted in the second half.
Matlou was handed his first full game since his return from injury and made sure to seize the opportunity, resulting in the fans showering him with much-deserved praise.
Here are the best reactions to Matlou's showing:

George Matlou did not lose a single ball. He never played the ball back or sideways. He always looks to keep the ball moving forward. Vilakazi looked so comfortable playing closer to him. Sirino came on, he combined well with George.

What do people want?
This man, George Matlou must teach many players how to play football. He hardly misplaces. Able to steal the ball from opponent foot with ease. Ability to play the most difficult pass that looks so simple.

I am concerned about that knee???? pic.twitter.com/8qKa5CDiRq
What sets George Matlou from the rest is his ability to play it simple. That's the most difficult thing to do. The boy does not take a second touch if there's no need. That's why it's extremely difficult to press him, he's press resistant. I'm still in awe with his display izolo.

The former Moroka Swallow baller was overcome with emotion, shedding tears after being named Man of the Match in his first full 90 minutes after his nine-month absence due to a serious knee injury.
Reflecting on his journey, Matlou admitted the emotional toll of recovering from his injury and being sidelined for nine months was immense.
