Amid reports linking Kaizer Chiefs to potential signings in the January transfer window, the club's assistant coach, Khalil Ben Youssef offered insights into factors that may impact the arrival of new players.
Speaking to journalists during a media open day at the Chiefs Village in Naturena on Thursday morning, ahead of their Betway Premiership match against Sekhukhune United on Sunday at Moses Mabhida Stadium, Ben Youssef outlined the considerations for bringing in a striker or other players.

He highlighted several issues, such as finances and player preferences, which must be addressed before any acquisitions.
"It's not a secret. We made it clear when we came here that there were some areas which needed strengthening and that hasn't changed. To be honest with you from the first day we made it clear about what we need in the team. And every day we meet and see the opportunity of the players we can bring. To bring in a player it depends on a lot of things: Money. The team has to agree. And does the other team agree to make the transfer or not? Budget. Can we do it or not? We also have Tera (Maliwa, the Chief Scout) helping us to prepare a different profile. He knows our modern game so he knows what we need. So it's takes a lot to bring in a player even if we want (him)," Youssef observed.

The assistant coach further emphasized that while the technical team identifies desired players, the board makes the final decision.
"The final decision, that's the decision of the board, you know. We have prepared everything on which players we need and what we want but it's the decision of the board. They will also look at things from their side and see which one will be possible and they will take it from there. From our side we have done our part," the assistant coach concluded.
Chiefs have been linked with various players, including strikers Fiston Mayele, Michael Olunga, and Clement Mzize, as well as midfielder Feisal Salum and wingers Tshepang Moremi and Oswin Appollis.
