SuperSport, however, have signed Abubeker Nasir from Mamelodi Sundowns on a one-year deal and the the Siya crew understands that this could end their pursuit of Nurkovic.
Nasir endured a difficult time at Sundowns with injuries and will be hoping to get his career back on track at SuperSport, who need a striker to goals regularly following an injury to Bradley Grobler recently.
The Siya crew understands that SuperSport do not want to spend big in terms of salaries, so Nasir's arrival could have an effect on whether or not they bring in Nurkovic.
Nurkovic, though, is a striker head coach Gavin Hunt admires and it's understood that there is a belief within the club that he will fit into their system.
