Europe's premier club competition is introducing a new league format for the 2024/25 campaign, with as many as 36 teams being grouped into one league, with each team playing against eight other sides from four different pots.
On Thursday evening, the group draw for the 2024/25 tournament was completed, and part of the footballing legends who helped conduct it were Gianluigi Buffon and the five-time Ballon d'Or winner.
The latter was also honoured on the night in Monaco, with an award for being the competition's all-time top goalscorer.
Ronaldo has scored 140 goals in 183 appearances in the Champions League, but despite him now plying his trade in Saudi Arabia with Al Nassr, the 39-year-old has suggested that fans could see him in club football's most prestigious competition once again.
