According to the Daily Mail, the Citizens are expected to lose the Spaniard at the end of his contract in 2025.
The news follows City's 2-1 FA Cup final defeat to local rivals United on Saturday, a result not many fans would have seen coming.
Guardiola did recently confirm he will still be in charge of the club next season, although was unclear if his long-term future remained in England.
The report claims City's hierarchy would prefer the former Barcelona and Bayern Munich boss to commit to a new deal in Manchester, but added that they will give him space to decide.
The 53-year-old has masterminded an impressive six Premier League title wins, including four in a row, in his past seven seasons in England, while he has collected 11 other pieces of silverware too.
Guardiola also guided City to their first-ever UEFA Champions League triumph in 2023.
As for his potential successor, Roberto De Zerbi, Xabi Alonso, Julian Nagelsmann and Girona's Michel having been linked with the job.
