With growing speculation over his future in recent days, the rumour mill has been in overdrive regarding whether or not the former midfielder will be fired from his current position as Blaugrana manager.
The conjecture regarding his immediate future has reportedly prompted the Terrassa native to request an urgent meeting with Barca president Joan Laporta to discuss his job security.
That discussion is believed to have been scheduled for this past Friday, but Laporta is said to have postponed the meeting until the end of the season.
According to SPORT, Xavi has not received any communication from the club's hierarchy suggesting that he could be ousted as head coach, but he knows the club president plans on dismissing him regardless.
The pair did, however, meet after the club secured second place in the LALIGA standings following their 3-0 win over Rayo Vallecano on Sunday, but it is alleged that Xavi's future was not discussed.
While Barca's executives may reportedly be leaning towards dismissing the former club captain, it may prove a costly decision for the cash-strapped Spanish giants as it is said that sacking Xavi could cost the club between €12 million and €20 million (R236 million and R394 million).
