Tau & Ahly Star 'Undergo' Doping Test After CAFCL Final

Tau & Ahly Star 'Undergo' Doping Test After CAFCL Final

Percy Tau and another one of his fellow Al Ahly teammates were reportedly taken in for a doping test moments after the end of their CAF Champions League final first leg against Esperance de Tunis.

This past weekend, the Egyptian giants met their Tunisian counterparts for the second successive campaign in African club football's premier club competition.

While Marcel Koller was able to win both legs of their semi-final encounter last season, the initial leg of this season's final did not follow the same script as it ended 0-0 in Rades.

As per Kooora, according to CAF protocols, players are taken for drug tests after each game, and for Ahly, on this occasion, they decided to take their talisman Tau and attacker Karim Fouad to be tested for any banned substances.

Both played almost the entire match, with the South Africa international playing 81 minutes before being substituted for Moroccan Reda Slim.

In the case of Fouad, he was introduced seven minutes into the match by their Swiss manager after Ali Maaloul suffered an ankle injury in the early stages of the match.

Unfortunately for the record competition winners, however, neither were able to make a meaningful impact on the match as honours ended even between the two north African sides, with the tussle hanging in the balance as both teams prepare to face off again in Cairo this coming weekend.

Ahly have not lost a Champions League match since losing 5-2 to Mamelodi Sundowns in last season's group stage, and will likely be backing themselves to attain a positive result in the second leg so they can claim their record-extending 12th continental crown.
