Coach Erik ten Hag has shown great faith in the 18-year-old, who bagged headlines this week by netting a superb late inner against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Thursday night.
A member of the Ghana FA has since informed the Times that they are interested in persuading Mainoo to represent Ghana.
"The Ghana Football Association is interested in monitoring, attracting, and persuading all eligible talents for its various national teams,' said Randy Abbey, of the executive council at the Ghana FA, as per the Times.
"Kobbie is definitely one of such incredible talents, and the Association will love to work with him and many like him home and abroad."
Mainoo has represented England at youth team level, which includes six matches for the Under-19 team but he is yet to be called up for the senior side, although that could change if he continues performing the Red Devils.
