Pienaar's love for Nigerian films
Steven Pienaar recently appeared on Yakubu's "Feed The Yak" podcast, uncovering his career path starting from School of Excellence and Ajax Cape Town, then his exploits in Europe at Ajax Amsterdam, Borussia Dortmund, and of course in the UK with Everton.
Pienaar and Yakubu enjoyed a memorable time at Everton under David Moyes, with the duo taking a trip down memory lane of their years in Merseyside.
Yakubu joked that "Schillo" was one of the clowns in the change rooms and Pienaar rebutting that by saying he was the organizer of the parties.
The conversation then went to Pienaar's respect for Nigerian culture and Yakubu told a story about how he found out that Pienaar could speak Pidgin English.
The Bafana legend, who can speak six languages in total, learnt how to speak it in Holland, taught by his fellow African teammates at the time and through Nigerian films.
His Naija love doesn't end there, Pienaar is a big fan of Nollywood films since his days at Ajax Amsterdam:
"I decided to buy a lot of Nigerian movies, you know the DVD's. So I watched Sam Loko (His favourite Nollywood actor) and them plenty of times, from Mr. Ibu and so on," revealed the 41-year-old.
