Khune Raring To Go Following Suspension

Khune Raring To Go Following Suspension

Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune is putting in the hard yards in the gym following the news of his suspension.

Check it out!

What's the story?

Veteran Itumeleng Khune has certainly had better weeks than this one, with Amakhosi taking the extortionary step of suspending him and revoking his captaincy.

This comes after the former Bafana Bafana star reportedly arrived to Chiefs' Naturena training base under the influence of alcohol — as Khune aims to come back stronger and fitter than ever.

Let's take a look at his exercise efforts this week...

Itumeleng Khune ups fitness efforts

Kaizer Chiefs' Itumeleng Khune is pumping up the tempo with his workouts this week, following his disciplinary issues that led to the announcement of his suspension on Thursday.

The decision to suspend and revoke Khune of his captaincy follows an internal investigation by the club into alleged disciplinary offence, where he was reported to have arrived to training under the influence.

Although Amakhosi didn't explicitly confirmed the details of Khune's actions, the decision to suspend him and revoke his captaincy points to some truth in the allegations.

As mentioned in Chiefs' statement, Khune will undergo a programme aimed at supporting his personal growth and development, and the veteran seems to be ahead of the curve with his exercises this week.

Khune took to Instagram to share a picture of him hitting the road for a 10km jog, finishing the run in an impressive one hour and 14 seconds.

Khune also trains with Lehlohonolo Majoro from time-to-time, and we can expect more workout content from the dynamic duo during the former Chiefs captain's suspension.

Khune exercise slogan #TeamNoRest will surely be revived during this suspension period and is likely to enlist the services of his personal trainers to keep him in tip-top shape before he makes a return.

This disciplinary setback for the 32-year-old certainly hangs a dark cloud over what's meant to be his swansong season at the club, with his contract expiring in June 2024.
