Egypt superstar Mohamed Salah was called the "best player in the Premier League" on the weekend after he inspired Liverpool to yet another victory with two more goals! Is he, though? Here is our reaction to the comments.

The 31-year-old has been in fine form this season for the Reds, and continued his excellent run at Anfield by scoring a brace as Jurgen Klopp's men claimed a 3-0 win over Brentford on Sunday afternoon. Salah opened the scoring following a sharp and swift counter-attack from the home team, neatly putting the ball past Mark Flekken with a trademark finish with his left foot in the 39th minute, before bringing up his second with a well-timed and well-placed headed effort.
Salah has now contributed to 14 goals in 12 appearances in the league so far in this campaign, but is it true that he is the best player in the division? Let's have a look at what Brentford manager Thomas Frank said about him in his post-match press conference.
Frank: "Mo Salah, Klopp is praising him a lot. I don't know if he gets enough praise."
Kurt: There might be some truth to this, you know. Salah is, of course, highly rated, but I don't see enough non-Liverpool supporting fans mention him in the conversation about the Premier League's greatest players in history. In his six years at the Reds, Salah has played a hand in 203 goals in 230 league appearances, while no other player from a club from England has scored more than he has in European competition (43). Other records he holds in England include: highest-scoring African player in Premier League history (149 goals), most assists by an African player in EPL history (63) and most goals by an African player in a single league campaign (32 goals in 2017/18). What a terrific player!
Frank: "Off the top of my head, potentially the best player in the Premier League in terms of goals and assists. What a level. He must be one of the best offensive players in the world – not top 10, top three."
Kurt: Salah was excellent against Brentford on Sunday, but I think Frank's remarks on the former Chelsea winger were inspired more by his general performance for Liverpool than they were by what he did at Anfield on the weekend. It feels like, when the Egypt international is in this kind of touch, he'll score with almost every chance he gets! Prior to his first against the Bees, there hadn't been too many clear-cut opportunities for Salah, but one came along and he finished it as if he were on the training ground. A trademark goal for one of the Premier League's all-time greats, who later in the game brought up his 200th strike in English football. In terms of longevity, perhaps only Kevin De Bruyne can be compared to Salah when it comes to the impact they've managed to have in England over an extended period of time, so let's compare their numbers! In 322 appearances for Liverpool, Salah has contributed to 281 goals. De Bruyne, meanwhile, has played a hand in 249 goals in 358 appearances.
