The 23-year-old returned to action following a three-match suspension as the Clarets claimed their maiden three points in a 2-1 away win over Luton Town, and was immediately back among the goals.
Foster found the back of the net with a composed finish at the end of the first half, taking his league tally to three for the 2023/24 campaign, with Jacob Bruun Larsen eventually scoring the winner for Burnley late on.
Speaking after the game, Kompany praised his forwards for the impact they had on the match.
"As a manager, you give credit to the players when they do well and you take responsibility when they don't and that's the nature of the job," he said, according to the club's official website.
"This moment was entirely him [Bruun Larsen] and he did great to affect the game like that. He has deserved it and I'm really pleased for him.
"It's exactly why we got him! He used to be one of the greatest young talents in Europe and he has had a difficult journey but he has shown tonight a glimpse of what he's capable of."
On Foster, the Belgian tactician stated his belief that the Bafana Bafana international is looking like someone who belongs in England's top division.

"It was a shame for him to be ruled out the last three games after starting strong, but he showed signs of being in a place where he belongs," Kompany added.
