Official: Man Utd Provide New Update On Antony

With Antony having recently taken a leave of absence in light of a police investigation involving him, Manchester United have now provided a new update on attacker's situation.

Earlier this month, the Red Devils confirmed that the 23-year-old attacker would be omitted from all first-team activities while authorities continue their investigation into allegations made against him pertaining to domestic violence.

Now, the record Premier League champions have made a new decision regarding the winger's involvement in the side as the investigation into the matter continues.

"Since allegations were first made in June, Antony has co-operated with police inquiries in both Brazil and the UK, and he continues to do so," an official statement by the club reads.

"As Antony's employer, Manchester United has decided that he will resume training at Carrington, and be available for selection, while police inquiries proceed. This will be kept under review pending further developments in the case.

"As a club, we condemn acts of violence and abuse. We recognise the importance of safeguarding all those involved in this situation, and acknowledge the impact these allegations have on survivors of abuse."

Erik ten Hag is unlikely to reintroduce the forward against Crystal Palace tomorrow, but with a UEFA Champions League encounter against Galatasaray and a Premier League match against Brentford also on the horizon, the Brazil international could be returning to a pitch sooner rather than later as he has largely been a regular starter since joining the Red Devils from Ajax Amsterdam last season.
