Ten Hag Reacts To Man Utd's 4-3 UCL Defeat To Bayern

Erik ten Hag has reacted to Manchester United's 4-3 defeat to Bayern Munich in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday night, with the Red Devils having now lost three consecutive matches.

Despite a good start at the Allianz Arena, United found themselves two goals behind inside 32 minutes after a mistake from Andre Onana allowed Leroy Sane to open the scoring before Serge Gnabry added a second.

The Red Devils pulled a goal back four minutes into the second half thanks to new signing Rasmus Hojlund, but their joy was short-lived as Harry Kane converted a penalty after a handball from Christian Eriksen in the box.

Casemiro scored United's second in the 88th minute, but Mathys Tel struck two minutes into added time before the ex-Real Madrid midfielder found the back of the net again in the final 60 seconds of the game.

In his post-match interview, Ten Hag bemoaned the ease with which the German giants carved his team's defence open.

"(I'm) disappointed and when you score three goals in Munich, at the least you have to take a point and we didn't," he said, according to the Daily Mail.

"And you have to look in the mirror because the goals were easy giveaways.

"We were, in the first 25 minutes, better in the game than Munich and then that goal, it was so easy and it was not only Andre.

"If you see how easy Sane is going through and that has to do with determination, you don't let players through so easy."

The Dutchman then urged his players to "suffer" and "sacrifice" in order to improve.

"That is the point - we have to cross the line as an individual and as a team to win games because it started there," he continued.

"That's what I mean, you have to suffer, sacrifice in situations, to give everything and to stop that and only when we get that in are we going to win games.

"Of course, he [Onana] knows he has to stop the ball but the way Sane came through can't be. And the second goal; it's almost similar over the other side. How easy players come through our box and to finish, it can't be.

"What you have seen on a very high level, it was against Arsenal, Bayern Munich, Brighton, all top-level teams, and we go head to head but they win.

"We have to make our own luck and that has to do with determination, then you make your own luck otherwise you don't get it because no one will bring you anything in football."
