16yo Makes History After Scoring On Spain Debut

Georgia 1-7 Spain

Spain bounced back to winning ways in emphatic fashion in Group A after hammering Georgia 7-1 on Friday evening at Boris Paichadze Dinamo Arena.

Alvaro Morata broke the deadlock for La Roja on 22 minutes with a low bullet header from a cross by Marco Asensio and Spain were 2-0 up five minutes later after an own goal by Solomon Kvirkvelia, who could not successfully clear a cross by Fabian Ruiz.

Dani Olmo put the game beyond Georgia eight minutes before the interval with a low strike and Morata made it 4-0 for the visitors and grabbed his brace five minutes before the break with a tap-in from a cut-back by Ruiz.

Giorgi Chakvetadze surprisingly pulled a goal back for Georgia early in the second stanza but Morata made it 5-0 for Spain and completed his hat-trick on 65 minutes witha shot in the box after a through ball.

La Roja were running rampant, as Jose Gaya made it 6-1 three minutes later with a great strike after cutting inside.

16-year old Lamine Yamal rounded off the drubbing with 16 minutes to go, as he became Spain's youngest goal-scorer with a first-time shot in the box.

Slovakia 0-1 Portugal

Portugal maintained their perfect record at the top of Group J after a narrow 1-0 win over Slovakia at Tehelné pole.

Bruno Fernandes broke the deadlock for the Selecao just before the half-time break with a low shot on the edge of the box across goal after he charged towards goal.

Roberto Martinez's charges extended their winning start to five matches and handed Slovakia their first loss, who now trail them by five points in second spot on on the mini-log.

Croatia 5-0 Latvia

Croatia clocked seven points from a possible nine in Group D after drubbing Latvia 5-0 thanks to a brace by Bruno Petkovic on Friday evening at Stadion HNK Rijeka.

Bruno Petkovic gave Croatia an early lead, within the first three minutes from a free-kick and Luka Ivanusec doubled their lead three minutes later.

Petkovic put the game to bed for the Chequered Ones and got his brace just before the interval with a close-range shot.

Andrej Kramaric made it 4-0 for Croatia with 22 minutes to go and Mario Pasalic made it 5-0 in the last 12 minutes.

Cyprus 0-3 Scotland

Scotland edged closer to qualifying after they maintained their 100 percent winning record with a 3-0 victory over Cyprus on Friday evening at AEK Arena.

Scott McTominay gave the Tartan Army an early lead on six minutes with a header unmarked on the far side from a flicked cross and Ryan Porteous gave the visitors a two-goal cushion ten minutes later with another headed goal from a set-piece.

John McGinn made it 3-0 for Scotland on the half-hour mark after a one-on-one with goalkeeper Joel Mall.
