Orlando Pirates have returned to the CAF Champions League competition after a few years out and their former captain believes they have the best team to compete in the tournament.
Motale told Soccer Laduma that looking at the squad that Pirates have now, they can compete with any team in Africa. He stated that there are many advantages that the current squad has when compared to their team of 1995.
"No, we don't have the right team. We have the best team. We have good players in all the departments. Looking at how we won the two trophies and finished second in the league shows you how good the team is," Motale told Soccer Laduma.
Then Magents discussed Pirates chances in the CAFCL for the upcoming campaign.
"Above all that, you know they have technology to check other teams like even in Ghana without even going there. In our times we only knew about those countries and teams when we got there.
"It was tough but now it's much easier and that's why I believe they can do well and go far in the competition," Motale said.
The 1996 Africa Cup of Nations winning defender added that the team's pre-season training in Spain will also help significantly as they will gain experience on how other countries run their squads.
"That's great. It's really a great move. They will see how the Spaniards and other countries do things. They should play Spanish, German and English teams so that when they go to Cameroon or Ghana then they are not intimidated.
"Also, it's summer there and it's good to train there because in other parts of Africa it's very hot so they should get used to playing in that heat as early as possible. It's really good that they went to Spain," Motale concluded.
