On Thursday evening, the Red Devils and Chelsea were believed to have found an agreement over the transfer of Blues midfielder Mason Mount following weeks of negotiations.
After the London side turned down several formal bids from United, transfer expert David Ornstein reports that this past season's Carabao Cup winners will finally land the England international's signature in a package deal worth £60 million.
Mount decided earlier this year that he would not be extending his stay at Stamford Bridge beyond June 2024, with Chelsea now set to cash in on him to avoid losing him for free next year.
Having insisted on a move to United, the player has been given permission to finalise terms with the 20-time English champions and undergo medical tests.
The 24-year-old endured a difficult 2022/23 campaign at Chelsea, missing 13 matches through injury in the second half of the season.
United boss Erik ten Hag was said to have made Mount a priority target heading into the transfer window, with the midfielder close to becoming the Dutchman's first 2023/24 acquisition.
