Real Madrid President Makes Surprise Mbappe Admission

Real Madrid President Makes Surprise Mbappe Admission

Real Madrid seem to have rekindled their interest in Kylian Mbappe following president Florentino Perez's latest surprise comments about the French superstar.

As currently constructed, Los Blancos are light in options as far as the attacking positions are concerned.

The record UEFA Champions League winners have already bid farewell to Mariano Diaz, Marco Asensio, Eden Hazard and Karim Benzema, so reinforcing in attack will likely be of the utmost importance for the Spanish giants.

A plethora of names have been floated as potentially making their way to the Santiago Bernabeu this off-season as a result, and Mbappe is once again among the rumoured targets.

The 24-year-old was courted by Los Merengues for the entirety of the 2021/22 campaign, but the 2018 FIFA World Cup winner ultimately decided to extend with Paris Saint-Germain instead.

The attacker's contract in the French capital is believed to be coming to an end once again after next season, and while it was previously reported that Real had become disillusioned in their chase for the five-time Ligue 1 Golden Boot winner, Perez has now seemingly uttered otherwise.

"Yes, but not this year," was the Spanish executive's answer when he was quizzed by a fan as to whether or not Real Madrid would sign the 2022 FIFA World Cup Golden Boot winner, as per Marca.

Real have already signed Jude Bellingham for €103 million (R2 billion) from Borussia Dortmund, and given how negotiations went with PSG for Mbappe two years ago, they will perhaps not be looking to spend that sort of money on their attack this season and aim to sign the France captain as a free agent when his contract at the Parc des Princes expires in June 2024.
