This weekend will see the commencement of the two-legged rematch of last season's continental final as the Moroccan giants look to defend their African title against the Red Devils.
A Walid Regragui-coached Wydad thwarted a Pitso Mosimane-led Ahly as the Red Castle captured their third Champions League trophy in the previous iteration of this match-up.
Now, both teams have new European managers, with the duo looking to cement their names in their respective sides' folklore.
Swiss boss Marcel Koller staved off group-stage elimination to lead the Egyptian giants to a fourth successive final, while Vandenbroeck took over Wydad less than a month ago and eliminated competition favourites Mamelodi Sundowns in the tournament's penultimate stage to reach the decider.
Now, Wydad's Belgian tactician has insisted that the Egyptian Premier League table-toppers will be eager to avenge their loss from last campaign.
"It's the same final as last year, so I can imagine Al Ahly want revenge over Wydad, but I think it will be an even more balanced game than this semi-final," Vandenbroeck said at a press conference that Soccer Laduma attended after they beat Sundowns.
"Because Sundowns dominated, against Al Ahly I think we can play more of our own game, I know them well."
