Following their reported high-profile split earlier this season, super-agent Jorge Mendes has broken his silence on the relationship he has with Cristiano Ronaldo.

Earlier this year, it was rumoured that the 38-year-old's January switch to Saudi Arabian giants Al Nassr was not handled or negotiated by Mendes and rather by Ronaldo's close friend Ricardo Regufe.
Reports suggested that Ronaldo had become frustrated with Mendes amid a turbulent last few months at Manchester United as he demanded his then-representative to find him a new club in Europe to join.
Mendes, however, failed to deliver on the five-time Ballon d'Or winner's wish and was also said to be against Ronaldo's decision to go public with his unhappiness at the Red Devils by speaking to British broadcaster Piers Morgan in a one-on-one interview.
The 57-year-old, however, has now insisted that he still enjoys a healthy personal relationship with his former client.
"Our personal relationship continues to be close, a great personal relationship," he said, according to the Daily Mail.
Mendes went on to heap praise on the ex-Real Madrid talisman, who scored 450 goals in 438 matches for the Spanish giants between 2009 and 2018.
"Cristiano will always be in my heart," he continued.
"He is a special player and a special person for me. If I, a few years ago, thought that I could have a player with half the value of Cristiano, I would sign for less! And all of us Portuguese should be proud to have had and still have a player like him.
"I've always said it and I'll say it all my life: he was and is the best player in the entire history of world football! I don't have the slightest doubt, even compared to others."
